Walt Disney World News and Rumors 7/20/15 - 7/26/15

News

Magic Kingdom
  • Dream Along with Mickey is dark until August 19.

Epcot
  • Glidden will soon present a new exhibit in Innoventions called “Colortopia” which will open fall 2015. Guests to the exhibit will be greeted and guided by a narrator, who will encourage unique interactions through fun hands-on activities.

Disney's Hollywood Studios
  • Updates have been made to the bubble scene in Fantasmic! adding scenes from The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Frozen.
  • The dates for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights have been confirmed. They are November 6 through January 3, 2016.


Downtown Disney
  • The United World Soccer Store has reopened at the West Side.
 

General Walt Disney World News
  • Walt Disney World Resort Guests are now able to choose to opt out of customizing and receiving a new MagicBand if they already have a MagicBand from a previous visit linked to their account on My Disney Experience. In addition, Guests with more than one reservation during the same visit will only receive one MagicBand for the whole visit if they do not customize a MagicBand for the second reservation.  
  • The Escape to Walt’s Wilderness Tour takes place at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and gives Guests a glance at the natural surroundings that became the perfect setting to accommodate Walt Disney’s grand dreams.  The adventure begins at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Marina where guests will board pontoon boats for an eco-history tour of Bay Lake. After arriving at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Guests will head to the shore of Marshmallow Marsh for breakfast on the beach. After fueling up, the group will travel by horse-drawn wagon to the Settlement and Pioneer Hall before hiking over the railroad tracks into a clearing in the trees for an archery opportunity. Finally, Guests will head to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch horse barn to meet the celebrity horses who live and work at Walt Disney World Resort.  This tour will be a 5-hour interactive experience that is available twice a week and costs $109 per person, plus tax and participants must be at least 7 years of age. 

Rumors
  • Could a new or updated show be headed toward the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater? That's where Fantasmic! is shown. (This is one I have my doubts on, but hey...you never know.)
  • Mickey Mouse could be moving his meet and greet for Disney's Hollywood Studios near Disney Junior - Live on Stage.

Walt Disney World News and Rumors 7/13/15 - 7/19/15




News 


Epcot 
  • New details have been released about the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. This year, there will be Marketplace Kiosks in Future World for the first time ever. One of them will be called the Artistry of Wine & Cheese area will feature the Cheese Studio and Wine Studio, found along the walkway to Future World West. There will also be new premium event including:
    • the Yelloween Masquerade Party for the Senses 31, an elegant, dance-the-night-away, gourmet tasting party with Champagne, wine, craft beers and specialty cocktails paired with food. Guests will be encouraged to masquerade in chic yellow and black.
    • “The Chew” cast will host a new premium event: the Rockin’ Burger Block Party, with specialty burgers and sliders inspired by top names in the music industry such as Dave Matthews and his Dreaming Tree Wines and Carlos Santana’s Casa Noble Tequila. Two additional Burger Block Parties are set for Sept. 25 and Nov. 6.
    The Marketplace Kiosk booths have also been announced, along with their menus.

Disney's Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open the Ice Palace Boutique across from the ABC Commissary on July 26 and it will last through the end of the Frozen Summer Fun event. Here, guests ages 3-12 can undergo a Frozen inspired transformation and there will be four different packages that guests can select from. They are:
    • Frozen Summer Fun Boutique Package – This package includes Anna or Elsa-inspired shimmering makeup palette, face gems, nail polish, a braided hair piece with sparkling snowflake accessory and an exclusive photo opportunity. Cost is $75 and includes tax.
    • Ice Palace Boutique Package – This package includes the items offered in the Frozen Summer Fun Boutique Package. It also includes access to the Ice Palace CafĂ© and reserved seating at one of the “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” shows. Cost is $175 and includes tax.
    • Ice Palace Boutique Deluxe Package – This package includes an Anna or Elsa costume plus the items offered in the Ice Palace Boutique Package. Cost is $240 and includes tax.
    • Olaf-Inspired Package –  The Olaf-inspired package includes a glitter hairstyle and Olaf tee-shirt and is designed for the boys in the family. Reservations are not required for this package and will only be available on-site at the location. Cost is $19.95, plus tax.
    The Ice Palace Boutique Package and the Ice Palace Boutique Deluxe Package can accommodate up to 6 guests, including the child getting the magical transformation.


Downtown Disney

  • The BOATHOUSE now offers discounts for Annual Passholders and DVC members. 

General Walt Disney World News
  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be undergoing multiple refurbishment projects through 2017. Work will begin in October, with the Hidden Springs leisure pool area, resort beach, playground and Recreation fire pit closing for renovation as early as October 26.

Rumors

  • Hollywood and Vine could be come Minnie's Holiday and Dine character meal during the holiday season featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in holiday attire and Santa Goofy.

Magic Kingdom

  • The Princess and the Frog meet and greet location has moved to Heritage House in Liberty Square.


Epcot

  • Candlelight Processional dining packages are now on sale.  In addition, we know who some of the celebrity narrators are going to be.  The preliminary list includes:
    • TBD - November 27 to 29
    • Neil Patrick Harris - November 30 to December 3
    • Whoopi Goldberg - December 4 and 5
    • Joe Morton - December 6 to 8
    • TBD  - December 9 to 11
    • Meredith Vieira - December 12 to 14

Downtown Disney

  • Blaze Pizza is expected to open in Disney Springs in May 2016.

News

Epcot 
  • “The Chew” will tape live at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival on Oct. 7, 8 and 9 and the episodes will air Oct. 12 -16. Also, for the first time ever, there will be two Marketplace booths found in Future World in the new Next Eats area.  The first new booth is the Sustainable Chew Marketplace where festival-goers can enjoy dishes inspired by “The Chew” co-hosts, including savory pork spareribs with red wine and fennel with cheesy mascarpone grits; ricotta & zucchini ravioli with tomato sauce; and vanilla panna cotta with fresh figs and pistachio brittle. The second new Future World Marketplace found at the Next Eats section will feature the Chew Lab, where Disney chefs will work with “The Chew,” hosts to create a cutting-edge marketplace inspired by food-science labs and culinary tech trends.

Disney's Hollywood Studios
  • The Magic of Disney Animation will officially close on July 12. This will include the meet and greets, the movie with Mushu and the Animation Academy.


Downtown Disney 

  • DisneyQuest will officially be closing in 2016 to make way for the NBA Experience.  

General Walt Disney World News
  • At Disney's Contemporary Resort, a brand new experience called the Disney Family Culinary Adventure is being introduced. During this interactive evening that lasts approximately four hours, guests will be able to prepare and cook a five-course dinner and is aimed for the whole family. The program is planned two evenings a week (days vary), starting at 5:00 p.m.  This experience costs $175 per adults and $125 for those ages 9-12.

Rumors

  • One Man's Dream could be leaving Disney's Hollywood Studios too. 
  • A Frozen-themed Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique could be added to Disney's Hollywood Studios as a part of the Frozen Summer Fun. 
  • The Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights should be returning for 2015.
